Tuesday 2 February Digital AV (Audio Visual) is growing in popularity in photography and is becoming a regular feature in club activities and competitions. Next year we plan to include some AV in our programme and so as an introduction to this our guests on Tuesday are the Bexley Audio Visual Group. They will present some of their work and demonstrate, by using the computer hardware most us already have plus some inexpensive software, how to produce something rather more sophisticated and complex than just a slide-show of images with added background music.

Alan’s interest – perhaps passion – in photography started in the late 1990’s in anticipation of his retirement from business in 2000. His interest is principally the landscape and he has travelled extensively, particularly in the States, in pursuit of the moment when the light transforms the mundane into something memorable. He works mainly in medium format film, making his own Ilfochrome prints, although he uses a small digital camera for the more intimate images.
Next week (19 Jan) it's round 3 of The Bob Forshaw Digital. You may submit up to 4 images, but if there is a very high number of entries the 4th pic will be dropped - so obviously don't label your best pic No.4!
Subject: any, colour or mono.
Images must be in a JPEG format with a maximum horizontal or vertical dimension of 768 pixels. The colour space for your images should be sRGB.
Please title your 4 images like this: 01 title_your name.jpg and then email them to: aperturewoolwich@googlemail.com
The deadline for submissions is 10pm Sunday night. That should allow us enough time to check all the pics and load them into the projection software.
This Tuesday at 8pm we have a talk entitled 'Simply Stated' given by Paul Foley FRPS MPAGB EFIAP. Paul currently sits on the Royal Photographic Society Distinctions Panels for both Visual Art and Travel Photography. He lectures on landscape photography throughout the country and has held several personal exhibitions of his distinctive work. Paul is a member of the highly respected Arena Group of photographers, he is also a member of the Mirage group and you can see a small selection of his work here.
We kicked off the 2010 season on 5 Jan with Round 3 of our print competition. The top scoring images from Group 1 (Intermediate) and Group 2 (Advanced) can be seen in the website gallery. It was a surprisingly good turnout, so well done everyone for braving the snow and ice!
